Blood Orange Sangria

This sangria glows like something out of a potion bottle, which is precisely the point. Mix it the morning of so the flavors marry, serve it in clear glass so the color does the decorating, and always set out a labeled mocktail twin for non-drinkers.
Makes 8 glasses · 15 minutes plus chilling
Ingredients
- 1 (750 ml) bottle dry red wine
- 2 cups fresh blood orange juice (about 6 oranges)
- 1 blood orange, thinly sliced
- 1 lemon, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup brandy (optional)
- 2 tablespoons honey or agave
- Ice, for serving
- For the mocktail version: 4 cups sparkling apple cider plus 1 cup blood orange juice
Instructions
- Stir the wine, blood orange juice, brandy (if using), and honey in a large pitcher until the honey dissolves.
- Add the sliced citrus, cover, and refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight.
- For the mocktail, combine the sparkling cider and blood orange juice in a separate labeled pitcher with sliced citrus.
- Serve over ice in clear glasses so the garnet color shows.
